IX Feminist Economics Conference

05/10/2025 12:00 am

Professor Yanna G. Franco presented a poster at the IX Feminist Economics Conference

From October 2–5, 2025, the city of Seville hosted the IX Feminist Economics Conference, bringing together scholars and activists to debate feminist approaches to economics.

During the event, Professor Yanna G. Franco (Complutense University of Madrid) presented the poster “Rethinking the Economy through a Gender Perspective: A Guide to Best Practices in Research and Teaching.” The poster synthesized key feminist critiques of mainstream economics and outlined practical proposals for transforming both teaching and research.

Highlights included the recognition of care work and reproduction as central to the economy, the need to rethink macroeconomic policies with a gender lens, and the integration of decolonial and ecofeminist perspectives. The poster also underscored issues such as the feminization of poverty, the conflict between capital and life, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration

By situating feminist economics as both an analytical framework and a political commitment, Professor Franco’s contribution added to the conference’s collective effort to challenge capitalist, colonial, and patriarchal structures in economic thought and practice.
