Intellectual Property Rights Management in Research Project: Legal Issues

Dear STEP Community,

We invite you to participate in this STEP Workshop, which will cover the topic: Intellectual Property Rights Management in Research Project: Legal Issues.

The seminar will provide an overview of the legal sources and issues arising from the management of IPR in research projects, especially those funded by the EU. Particular attention will be paid to the legal and contractual rules applicable to the results and background of the research project, in relations with the granting authority and with other participants and third parties.

The workshop will be divided into two sessions:
April 10, 2025, 11h CET (10h Portugal)Rules applicable to IPR in research projects: Introduction to the legal rules applicable to the results and background of research projects.
April 11, 2025, 11h CET (10h Portugal): Legal instruments for IPR management in research projects: An overview of agreements and other legal instruments for effective IPR management.

Speaker: Roberto Cippitani is Jean Monnet Chairholder; Professor of Biolaw; Data Law; Law of Science and Technology; he is Director of the Chair “ISAAC” (Individual Rights in Scientific Research and Cooperation) at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (Madrid) and Visiting Professor in several universities in Europe, Latin America and China; he is Associated Researcher at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche-IFAC (Italy) and Expert Evaluator of the European Commission.
