The CMU Portugal Program has an Open Call for up to 10 Dual Degree Ph.D. scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year on cutting-edge areas of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT).
Specific application deadlines for each one of the eleven available Ph.D. programs are the following:
– December 1st (11:59 p.m. EST): Cognitive Neuroscience (PCN) and Neural Computation (PNC) – new!
– December 10th (3:00 p.m. EST): Computer Science (CS), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Language Technologies (LTI), Machine Learning (ML), Robotics, Societal Computing (SC), and Software Engineering (SE).
– December 15th (11:59 p.m. EST): Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Engineering and Public Policy (EPP).
Applications must be submitted online directly to CMU.
CMU Portugal Dual Degree Doctoral students conduct their studies in both Portugal (3 years at a Portuguese-affiliated university) and the United States (2 years at CMU). The 10 Scholarships are available on a competitive basis, covering full tuition and providing a monthly stipend during the study period at both CMU and in Portugal.
