Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Bragança

01/06/2023 2:30 pm

IPB's Members of the EDI commission will talk about the subject in the context of education

The principles of equality, equity and diversity are the fundamental expression of the guarantee of social justice, since all people have, regardless of their identity or sexual orientation, their age or nationality, their abilities or limitations, their social origin , racial or ethnic, of their beliefs or religion, to have access to the same opportunities for participation and influence, both in the public and in the private sphere. These values are embodied in important international documents that guide public policies at an international, national and local level. Examples of this transversal concern are the Sustainable Development Goals, the National Strategy for Equality and Non-Discrimination 2018-2030 «Portugal + Igual» and, more locally, the Municipal Equality Plans and the Plans for equality within the Institutions. Based on this framework, this Conference proposes reflection on the identification/recognition of situations of inequality and the definition of strategies and measures to build fairer education and work environments and contexts that promote human development.
